Información Útil
Rwanda enjoys a mild climate year-round thanks to its altitude and mountainous landscapes. In Kigali, temperatures generally range between 16°C and 24°C, offering pleasant days and cool evenings.
The best times to visit Rwanda are typically during the dry seasons:
- June to September — ideal for gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, with drier trails and better hiking conditions.
- December to February — pleasant weather, excellent visibility, and especially lush green landscapes.
Rwanda can be visited throughout the year, but the experience changes depending on the season and the type of journey you wish to experience. At Siente África, we design each itinerary carefully around climate conditions, travel rhythm, and the ideal timing for every experience.
A yellow fever vaccination is normally required to enter Rwanda (Check the WHO list of countries with yellow fever). As medical facilities can be limited in certain areas, it is essential to travel with comprehensive medical insurance coverage.
It is also advisable to bring a basic medical kit and any personal medications you may need, as some medicines may not be readily available locally.
Most nationalities require a visa to enter Rwanda. Travelers can apply for an eVisa online before departure or obtain a visa upon arrival in the country.
Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates and contain sufficient blank pages for entry stamps. We also recommend carrying printed copies of your travel documents and confirmations throughout your journey.
Rwanda is widely known for the warmth and hospitality of its people. Respect for local customs is important, including dressing modestly, particularly in rural areas and community settings.
On the last Saturday of every month, Rwanda observes Umuganda, a national community day during which many businesses close and citizens participate in collective cleaning and development activities. This tradition reflects the country’s strong sense of community, responsibility, and national pride.
Traveling through Rwanda is also an opportunity to engage respectfully with local culture, traditions, and everyday life beyond the wildlife experiences.
To take part in gorilla trekking, a special permit is required, currently priced at USD 1,500 per person. At Siente África, we take care of securing all permits and arrangements on your behalf.
Permits are limited and should ideally be reserved at least 3 to 4 months in advance, especially during peak travel seasons. Participation is restricted to travelers aged 15 years and older.
