Información Útil
The Seychelles Islands, located in the Indian Ocean, enjoy a warm tropical climate year-round. However, weather conditions vary throughout the year, which can influence the overall travel experience. Below is a guide to the different seasons and the recommended activities for each.
Transition seasons (April–May and October–November):
During these months, weather conditions are ideal, with pleasant temperatures and gentle breezes. It is an excellent time for water-based activities such as diving and snorkeling, as well as hiking and birdwatching. As this is considered a shoulder season, there are fewer visitors, making it easier to secure preferred accommodations and enjoy each experience with greater tranquility.
Dry season (June–September):
These months are generally cooler and drier, with southeast trade winds that can increase wind strength and ocean swells along certain beaches. It is an ideal time for activities such as windsurfing and sailing. However, it is worth noting that July and August coincide with school holidays in many parts of the world, which can result in higher visitor numbers and increased rates.
Wet season (December–March):
During this period, the islands experience warmer temperatures and higher humidity, with more frequent rainfall—particularly in December and January. Despite this, showers are typically brief and often followed by sunshine. It is also a festive time in the Seychelles, with cultural celebrations, Hindu festivals, and the holiday season including Christmas and New Year. However, due to higher travel demand, rates tend to increase, and booking in advance is highly recommended.
Additional recommendations:
- Wildlife observation: Birdwatching is particularly rewarding between April and October, while sea turtle nesting season typically takes place from November through February.
- Diving and snorkeling: The best conditions for these activities occur during the transition months (April–May and October–November), when the waters are at their clearest and calmest.
In summary, while the Seychelles remain an exceptional destination year-round, the months of April, May, October, and November offer the most favorable weather conditions and fewer visitors—making them the ideal time to experience the islands at their finest.
